The role:

The AFN has an immediate need for a Community Operations Associate to work with members, new and existing, and the board on achieving the organization’s goals for 2017. The new role is a great opportunity for an autonomous and organized professional interested in entrepreneurial communities, and obtaining hands-on experience with building industry networks from the ground-up. It’s also a perfect role for someone looking for flexible work hours and environment. 

Core responsibilities:

The role is split across three core constituencies: 

Event Coordination

  • Create, manage and host the AFN’s event series throughout the calendar year 
  • Manage event registration, logistics (be it directly at each event or with a group of volunteers), and promotion to ensure events are delivered seamlessly and are at capacity
  • Collect event feedback and make suggestions to improve event curriculum
  • Work with the board to source event speakers, sponsors and organizers
  • Work with sub-group organizers (like the AFN Female Founders chapter) to ensure success

Membership Management

  • Manage membership applications and member lifecycles 
  • Optimize the application funnel online and offline - suggesting new tools to improve community engagement and workflows
  • Create clear guidelines and communication around member segments and expectations
  • Work with the board on quarterly application approvals
  • Drive new member sign-ups and increase existing member engagement 

Communication Management

  • Handle internal and external communications for the AFN, including media and support requests
  • Manage website content and brand assets
  • Create a lightweight multi-media content strategy and resource this with writers or guest contributors that aligns with the AFN’s mission, vision and values
  • Manage social media channels including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to communicate with members and bring awareness of the AFN

  • This role is San Francisco based but can be performed remotely. Access to a coworking or workspace will be provided if desired
